About NLANR.net
NLANR.net is a free, independent, non-commercial educational site about network performance and Internet measurement.
This site and the old laboratory
The address belonged to the National Laboratory for Applied Network Research, whose projects included the first iperf and important early work on web caching. The site was rebuilt from scratch in November 2026. It has no connection with the former laboratory, its staff or its funders; its history is told on NLANR history.
Old files and links
Papers, presentations, software archives and images from the old site are still available at their original addresses, as historical material. Old software releases are kept for reference only: for real use, install current versions from the official projects (for example iperf3 from ESnet, Squid from squid-cache.org). Old page addresses lead to the new guide on the same subject.
